Standard loop end mops have become a thing of the past for many people, and for good reason. Today, more and more homeowners are shifting to mops with removable pads, some of which eliminate the need for a bucket. These mops offer a convenience that certain traditional mops don't. They're lighter, less bulky, and less likely (or not at all likely) to get stuck to furniture or things on the floor during use.

If you recently bought a new style of mop, you may be wondering how to clean it. The first obvious question is, can it be machine-washed? You'll be happy to know that many modern removable mop pads can be safely washed in a machine. Just be sure to read the label on the mop head to be certain. You can also hand wash the pads, such as Swiffer pads.

Some machine-washable mop heads include the O-Cedar EasyWring RinseClean Spin Mop and various microfiber mops like the SUPTREE Floor Spray Mop. A quick Google search for "machine-washable mop heads" will give you dozens of other options.

While it's great to know that many mop heads are machine washable, that doesn't mean they'll last forever. For example, mop heads made of cotton after approximately 50 washes. Microfiber mop pads can be washed hundreds of times before having to be replaced. Just be sure to follow the washing instructions.

It's also important to note that you can throw your microfiber mop pads into the dishwasher instead of the washing machine or by hand washing them. Avoid using bleach or fabric softener, and if machine washing, let the pads air dry instead of using the dryer.

Regardless of how you wash your mop pads and the material it's made out of, it's best to throw them out once they start feeling thin and flimsy. You can purchase replacement mop pads at department stores like Walmart and Target or online stores like Amazon in single packs or multipacks.
